Zaterdag vond in Kemmel een wedstrijd voor junioren plaats. De zege van de wedstrijd ging naar de Engelsman James Shaw.
"Racing in Belgium is always special; we travel out early Saturday morning on the Eurotunnel, race in the afternoon then get another race in on the Sunday before returning home that evening. A team of seven of us had come over; we arrived in Kemmel at 2pm which gave us an hour to get ready. All the Brits got into the lead break, with three laps to go Luke Hall attacked and got maybe 45 seconds on the group, I decided to jump the gap and with nobody coming across with me it left two of us off the front. After the cobbles on the last lap I attacked again and got a good gap, I just put my head down and went for it spending the last 5km solo. It was great to get my first win as a junior especially with me only being a first year and I couldn’t think of a better place to win. I just love the atmosphere of Belgium racing, the crowds are brilliant and the racing is full on from the start. The cobbles are something we don’t really get back home so the only time we get to practice them is when we come over to race. The more I race in Europe the more I know that I want at some point to move over and base myself over there and be full time but that is a plan for maybe a couple of years in the future.": aldus James
