Rob Leemans won afgelopen maandag de wedstrijd in Abu Dhabi. Rob bezorgt zijn nieuwe ploeg Pauwels Sauzen - Vastgoedservice Cycling Team de eerste zege op de weg. In de open wedstrijd werd Callum Anderson, junior van Acrog Balen BC knap 2e.
"The race was an Australian pursuit race, which is groups set off depending on the level of the riders so the better riders start later on. I went last with rob and 5 others, we worked together to catch the front groups and averaged 44kph for 50km (3 laps of 16km). We managed to see the front group in the last lap and rob and one other guy attacked, so I followed myself and caught them and then caught the front group. We stayed in the front group for the bunch sprint, rob was sat 3rd position I was 5th. The sprint started and the guy in front couldn't hold robs wheel so I went around and chased rob but by then it was too late.I came in 2nd almost level with rob in the sprint so I had a good feeling in the sprint.
