De Engelsman Matthew Clements won vandaag de wedstrijd in Knokke-Heist. Er werd gestart met 32 junioren voor 15 ronden van 5,6km.
"After staying with the Trio family in knokke heist, I returned for today's race to catch up with my friends and hopefully get a good result. As soon as the race started, a breakaway of 2 riders went up the road, it looked likely that they would stay away so I bridged the gap with another rider, catching them with 6 laps remaining. We all worked well together and the pace remained tough the whole way. As we entered the finishing straight, I was last wheel which gave me an advantage for the sprint. I stayed in the wheels until 300m from the finish, when I kicked and was fortunate enough to pass everyone in the group and took my first win in Belgium, and my first road race win of the season.": Matthew Clements.
