In Waarschoot verschenen 105 junioren aan de start met daarbij een sterke delegatie renners uit het buitenland. De Noor Ludvig Fischer Aasheim reed er solo naar zijn eerste zege van het seizoen.
"My legs were Ok and i know im in good shape even though it was tough from the start, so i tried to attack a few times but didn't get any big gaps. When another strong rider from Norway attacked in the headwind i followed him and another one came along so i pulled really hard until we got a big gap and then we all worked together! When three other riders caught up to our group it got a lot easier. I pulled harder then the other riders and i could see that they were tired so i attacket with 1 and 1/2 lap to go just before the train tracks and i could see the other guys working together but after a while I got a bigger gap. I went about 90% at first in case they caught up to me but then i went 100% when we were out on the last lap. I was confident that i would take the win when it was about 4 kilometers left because i still had a big gap and still had some power left!"
