Conor Hennebry won gisteren de spurt van Stijn De Bock in het Brabantse Merchtem. In totaal werd er gestart met 113 ezc/u23.
"The race started very fast with a group of 15-20 riders getting off the front. Some riders made an attempt to go across to the break of the day. On the third lap a chase group formed with 5 riders. We chased hard and the gap to the front group began to come down from 50 seconds. We chased hard for 3 laps or so and finally made it to the front of the race. The whole group worked at the front. With about 2.5 laps to go I attacked on the second hill and Stijn De Bock came across to me. We started working very well together and gained a nice gap on the chase group. We rode hard until the last 500m where it came down to a sprint and I was able to get the better of him in the sprint. I am very happy to win this race. It was a really tough race and it is in my local town. ": told the winner of the race, Conor.
