Aan de start bij de juniorenwedstrijd in De Haan-Vosseslag waren verschillende renners uit de UK. Harrison Jones won solo de wedstrijd en behaalde zo zijn eerste seizoenszege. Harrison stuurde ons volgend wedstrijdverslag:
Today was my first race of the season In Belgium, after a good start to the season in the UK I was hoping to have a good first race of the season in Belgium, however I was a bit unsure of what to expect having only raced in Belgium once before.
The race started quite fast but there was not much cohesion at the front and I was hoping to get in a winning breakaway as I'm not a sprinter, I was in a small move off the front after the 2nd lap which had a small gap but we were pulled back and at that point the breakaway which would eventually win went up the road.
With some strong riders in it I was desperate to get across to it, I had to really bury myself and carried a rider across with me however I just about got across.
I quickly started pushing the break on and when the gap went up to 1' 40" I was confident we would win. I was watching the other riders and they looked like they were suffering, which I was happy about as the legs started to feel really good.
I wanted to wait till the Last lap and planned to launch my attack with around 2km to go as i knew if I established a gap I could hit the corners fast and stay away, I attacked very hard and nearly lost the front on the next corner however with 1km to go I was very happy when I looked around and couldn't see any riders.
