Nathan Draper mocht gisteren na 2 uur en 13 minuten wedstrijd het zegegebaar maken in het Oost-Vlaamse Sint Gillis Waas. Het was voor Nathan slechts zijn derde wedstrijd van het seizoen als tweedejaars junior.
"My aim for the race was to just try and be in every and any move that went from the off, I was hoping that a small break would stick and after 40km of racing finally I managed to get into a break of 10 riders. Along with team mate Ethan Hayter we worked well and the gap grew to about a minute. As it came to the final 15km the group split to just 5 of us. Again myself and Ethan in the front group. Final lap the group was together and in the last 5km I pushed on with another rider and chanced a sprint between the pair of us and managed to take the win. Ethan came close to bridging to us in the last few 100 meters, but none the less did a great ride to finish 3rd and Joe Fry had covered riders from the main group all day from letting any more riders from slipping across, so a big thanks to them.": tell Nathan.
