James Fouche kwam gisteren solo over de eindmeet in Overijse. Het was voor de Nieuw-Zeelander zijn tweede zege op Belgische bodem.
"The race was super tough. I tried to save energy early on knowing the wind and the hills would accumulate on the legs as the race went on. I saw a move of around 20 riders go up the road and gain a fairly substantial gap. I decided with about 9 laps to go that I would bridge across to them. I ended up having to do it solo which was super tough. As the laps ticked away I decided where to make a decisive attack. I decided to do it ontop of a climb where there was a strong crosswind. It worked and i got a gap that I held for the final 5km to the finish!"
